An event that will support the American Cancer Society through the music of American Idol winner David Cook is scheduled for Saturday in Blue Springs.
CooksCrew, a fan-based organization, will hold the event from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Rotary Park at Railroad Lake. The event will include music, food, refreshments and entertainment, according to the Web site Cookscrew.com.
Highlights include:
n American Cancer Society members talking about cancer awareness.
n Wings-of-Love, an exotic bird show event.
n Freestyle graphics.
n Gautreaux’s Martial Arts Center, performing martial arts.
n Rhonda’s Dance Studio, which will perform a special arrangement of David Cook music.
n Blue Springs Glitter Girls.
The first performance will begin at 10:30 a.m.
Donations of $5 will get you a plate of food, drink, cookie, and two chances to win one of many prizes and giveways.
Other activities include facing painting, balloons, cakewalks, the Youth Outreach Unit squad car, silent auction, country store, and a fire engine.
Several businesses and organizations have contributed to the event, including Blue Springs Animal Hospital, The Cookie Factory, Furry Friends, The Shake Cafe, TCR Enterprises, Lunar Bowl, McDonald’s, Sonic, Anderson Rental, Hobby Lobby, Price Chopper and 7th Heaven.
