Jacquie Rajer, a teacher at Thomas Hart Benton in Independence, recently received the “Day Made Better” award from the Independence OfficeMax location.

The $1,000 award in classroom supplies included a new color printer, computer software, a leather chair and other materials. OfficeMax joined with the national cause “Adopt-A-Classroom” when they learned that teachers spend an average of $1,200 of their own money on their classrooms each year.

Rajer’s name was submitted to OfficeMax by principal Leslie Hochsprung after the faculty and staff selected Rajer as the Thomas Hart Benton teacher of the year last spring.

They chose Rajer based on her dedication, innovation and passion for teaching.
