A Blue Springs has been accepted into the Science and Mathematics Academy for the Recruitment and Retention of Teachers at the University of Missouri.
Tyler Nichol, a 2007 graduate of Blue Springs High School, received the Robert B. Noyce Stipend in the amount of $10,200 to participate in the program. The stipends are made possible through a National Science Foundation grant.
The SMAR2T program recruits and prepares students who have bachelor's degrees in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) fields to teach at middle or secondary schools. Students in the program earn master’s degrees while becoming certified to teach in Missouri. Nichol is a graduate student working toward a master’s degree in science education.
