Bailey Jo Mill is the 2012 winner of the Robert E. Tindall Scholarship, awarded at the Independence Art Association show June 9. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating Independence high school senior interested in majoring in art and who demonstrates outstanding proficiency and creativity in the two-dimensional arts. Bailey is a graduate of Truman School where her art teacher was Jean Luzader.

The 37th Annual Members Art Show, presented by the Independence Art Association, was held June 9 at Primary Colors Gallery, 109 W. Lexington Ave., in historic downtown Independence.
Christian Cutler, director of galleries at the University of Central Missouri, served as judge.
Bailey Jo Mill was recognized as the 2012 winner of the Robert E. Tindall Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded to a graduating Independence high school senior interested in majoring in art and who demonstrates outstanding proficiency and creativity in the two-dimensional arts. Bailey is a graduate of Truman School where her art teacher was Jean Luzader. Luzader was on hand to lend her support, as were Bailey’s family and friends.
The show featured the work of 13 local artists. Tindall Scholarship Committee Member Sharon Wear recognized the winners in the following categories:
Best of Show: “Winter’s Rest,” graphite – Emory Dillon
First Place: “Canopy,” photography – Lee Kirchhoff
Second Place: “Birch by the Lake,” oil – Pat Deeter
Third Place: “Maasal and his Cattle,” acrylic – Erlene Flowers
Merit Awards:
“Spicy Sumac,” oil – Johnni Dowhower
“Mighty Mizzou,” watercolor – Patty Petet
“Gladys and Pussy Willows,” acrylic – Sina Ryburn
The Independence Art Association meets  at 7 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month at The Stone Church-Community of Christ, 1012 W. Lexington Ave. Annual membership is $20 and includes an individual gallery on the IAA website.
