Two Scouts from Boy Scout Troop 282 will be receiving their Eagle Awards on May 21 during a ceremony held at Trinity Episcopal Church, 409 N. Liberty St., Independence.
Levi Duve, 16, the son of Marilyn Duve and Eugene Duve of Independence, joined Troop 282 in 2007.
He has earned 29 merit badges and the God and Life Award. He has served his troop as Assistant Patrol Leader, Patrol Leader, Assistant Senior Patrol Leader, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster and Quartermaster. He is currently Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.
He attended the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation four years, plus one year of permanent camp staff, and will be returning to staff the summer of 2012. He is a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and his tribal name is Fire-builder Free-falling Spark. For his Eagle Project, Levi refurbished the church sign for Trinity Episcopal Church
Levi is a sophomore at William Chrisman High School, where he is a weightlifter and has lettered in soccer. He is a member of the Community of Christ church, and is employed at Sonic Drive-in and the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation.
He has also received six Presidential Physical Fitness awards, Presidential Outstanding Academic Excellence Award, Duke University Talent Award, Missouri House of Representatives Certificate of Achievement for honor roll, Academic Excellence, Cadet of the month (April), and Achieved R.O.T.C. Rank of E-5 sergeant.
Taylor Ray Blann, 17, the son of Ray and Lisa Blann of Independence, joined Troop 282 in 2007.
He has earned 28 merit badges, plus the Mile Swim, God & Country Religious Award and First Flame 2010. He has served his troop as Assistant Patrol Leader, Grub Master, Scribe and Assistant Senior Patrol Leader. He is currently serving as Junior Assistant Scoutmaster.
Taylor attended the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation six years, and has served on the camp staff for two years. He is a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and his tribal name is Runner Son of Loud Roaring Bear. For his Eagle Project, he refurbished a bike rack and installed a new concrete pad for Procter Elementary School.
He is a junior at William Chrisman High School and is involved in varsity wrestling and varsity soccer, and is a member of East Side Baptist Church.
