Blue Springs students win poetry awards

Several students in the Blue Springs School District placed in the 2008 Artistic Expression of the Mind Poetry Contest. More than 340 poems were entered this year.

Sixth grade finalists – Miranda Cooper, Delta Woods Middle School; Hannah Krueger, Delta Woods and Rachel Matsel, Brittany Hill Middle School.

Seventh grade finalists – Randi Geer, Sunny Vale Middle School; Emily Hellon, Brittany Hill and Brice Webb, Brittany Hill.

Eighth grade finalists – Briana Anderson, Delta Woods; Desiree Barbosa, Moreland Ridge Middle School and Kate McFerren, Brittany Hill.

Ninth grade finalist – Madison Billings, Blue Springs Freshmen Center.

10th grade finalists – Bridget Bellinghausen, Blue Springs High School; Lindsay DePee, Blue Springs South High School; Olivia Hunt, Blue Springs South and Yk-ching Tsai, Blue Springs South High School.

11th grade finalists – Kristina Graham, Blue Springs High School and Rachel Sweet, Blue Springs High School.

12th grade finalists – Jordan Maxwell Brezouar, Blue Springs South; Leanna Cartwright, Blue Springs High School and Kaitlyn Dryer, Blue Springs South.

Employee finalists – Terre Armstrong, Sunny Vale; Darcie Dreher, Brittany Hill and Ruth Ann Hafner, Blue Springs High School.
