At 2 p.m., March 29, 248 young women were presented the Girl Scout Gold and Silver Awards, at the First Baptist Church of Raytown, in Raytown.
The Girl Scout Silver Award is the highest national recognition for Girl Scouts, ages 11-14 or sixth-ninth grades, honors the efforts of girls in skill building, leadership, career exploration and self-developmet.
Among the recipients were local girls Marianne Braden and Kelsey Singleton of Blue Springs; Christina Coulliette; Emily Cox; Mindy Dandorf; Kendyl Laughlin; Christen Ring-Bradshaw; Carolyn Roberson; Andrea Watkins-Davis and Katelynne Willits of Independence; Erin Andrews; Kristen Heineck; Stephanie Johnson; Ashley Swafford; Hayley Thomas; and Winnie Youger of Lee’s Summit; and Kayla Curtis; Kali Dahlor; Felisha Killen; Kayla Killen; Amanda Marshall; Sarah Thorpe; Rochele Watson; and Samantha Whitehead of Oak Grove.
The award required 40 hours dedicated to a service project.
