At a recent meeting of the Missouri Irish Brigade of Civil War Re-enactors, the Independence Pioneers Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution presented certificates of appreciation to the children of the Brigade for their continued dedication to helping keep history alive.
The children portray the roles of young people of the Civil War era, interacting with the viewing public, demonstrating daily skills, and teaching games of the period. They remain in character for days at a time, according to local DAR chapter education committee chair Anne Mallinson, who presented the awards to the group of children.
NSDAR membership is open to women age 18 or older who can prove lineal descent from an ancestor who aided in achieving American independence. If you are interested in joining, please contact Lisa Sullivan, Registrar, at email@example.com.
