In coordination with the MARC Solid Waste Management District’s Regional Household Hazardous Waste collection Program, the city of Blue Springs will host a collection event from 8 a.m. to noon April 22, at Pink Hill Park, 2715 N.W. Park Drive, Blue Springs.

Residents from Blue Springs, Grain Valley, Lake Tapawingo, Sugar Creek, Lone Jack, Lake Lotawana, Sibley, Missouri City, Levasy, Unincorporated Jackson County and other communities in the Regional HHW Collection Program may attend this or any of the other mobile events free of charge. Materials accepted include: Automotive fluids, batteries, paint, paint-related products, lawn and garden chemicals, house cleaners, glues and compact fluorescent light bulbs. Electronic waste and business waste will not be accepted, including waste from home-based businesses, nonprofits, churches and rental properties.

Residents of participating communities may also drop off household hazardous waste for free at two permanent facilities – The Lee’s Summit facility at 2101 S.E. Hamblen Road is open the first Saturday, April through November, and on the third Wednesday of each month, year-round (appointments required, call 623-3066.) The Kansas City facility is located at 4707 Deramus Street, and is open year-round on Thursday, Friday and Saturday (no appointment needed.)
