The Sierra Club-Thomas Hart Benton Group in Kansas City is holding special preview of the film in advance of the National Geographic global broadcast premiere on June 25. The screening will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. June 20 at the Anita B. Gorman Conservation Discovery Center, 4750 Troost Ave., Kansas City.
“From the Ashes” captures Americans in communities across the country as they wrestle with the legacy of the coal industry and what its future should be under the Trump Administration. From Appalachia to the West’s Powder River Basin, the film goes beyond the rhetoric of the “war on coal” to present compelling and often heartbreaking stories about what’s at stake for our economy, health and climate. Audiences will learn more about an industry on the edge and what it means for their lives.
This is a free event, but you'll need to make reservations at http://bit.ly/2qrzqkC or http://bit.ly/FromTheAshesMovie. Upon making your reservations, you will be emailed additional information and opportunities to support coal communities transitioning to cleaner energy.
