Summer Fun Series at St. Luke's UCC
St. Luke’s United Church of Christ, 727 N. Main St., Independence, is having a Summer Fun Series at 9:30 a.m. Sundays through Aug. 13.
The theme this year is “Oh, the Places You'll Go!” Children and adults will focus on works of Dr. Seuss as we nurture our spiritual vitality.

Marian Conference at St. Robert Bellarmine
The Kansas City/St. Joseph Diocese will be holding Marian Conference III, “Mary's Triumph through Jesus,” from 5:15 to 9:30 p.m. June 23, and 7 a.m. to 4:35 p.m. June 24, at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 4313 S. Missouri 7, Blue Springs.
Each of us are searching to find out the answers to life's bigger questions: Why are we here? What is my purpose? How does all of this chaos fit together? Does my life really matter? Feed your desire and nourish your soul at this 2-day event, which will be filled with inspirational, national and local presenters, as well as many other activities designed to glorify God and honor Mary the mother of Jesus.

Calvary Baptist to hear from missionary
Missionary Marty McAnally will be speaking at the 10:45 a.m. service on June 25 at Calvary Baptist Church, 900 N.W. 22nd St., Blue Springs.
During this special occasion, you'll hear personally from one of our own most anointed missionaries, who is dedicated and committed with their lives. He and his wife, Denna, are serving the Lord Jesus Christ in a part of the world that most people could never imagine going to. Marty started a pastorate in Peru (the Amazon Rain Forest) where he left with 15 church starts after 12 1/2 years.

Creative arts camp at Christ United UMC
Christ United Methodist Church is holding a Creative Arts Camp for children in third through seventh (grade entering in fall of 2017), from 5:30 to 8:45 p.m. June 25 through 29, at the church, 14506 E. 39th St., Independence.
Kids choose 3 classes and one alternate from the following list: Drama, Twigs (dowel rod routines), puppetry, stomp, beginning ukulele, musical theater, artists’ workshop, creative weaving, sign language, creative dance (3rd-4th), Hip Hop (5th-7th), and Bells Showcase on Thursday evening.
The cost is $20 per child, and kid-friendly dinners are included for all 5 evenings (some scholarships are available). Registration packets are available from the church or you can register online at www.icumc.org/cac .
Kids' Art Camp planned this month
The Good Shepherd Community of Christ congregation is holding is third annual Kids’ Arts Camp: Imagine and Create, from 9 a.m. to noon June 26 through 29, at the church, 4341 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City.
This unique summer experience for children who have completed 1st through the 7th grade, offers a variety of music, art and craft classes to choose from. No previous experience needed. If fact, this is a good place to try something new. There are three 45 minute sessions. Campers select their preferences and are assigned three class sessions on a “first come” basis. The morning ends with a gathering of the campers for sharing, singing and snacks. There will be a program for parents and friends on June 29 at 7 p.m.

Jehovah's Witnesses convention at SEC Arena
The “Don't Give Up!” three-day convention presented by Jehovah’s Witnesses includes talks and interviews: See how God “supplies endurance” to all sorts of people; Multimedia: Discover how the Bible and nature teach lessons about how to endure; Feature film: Each afternoon, follow the story of a family who learns why Jesus said, “Remember the wife of Lot”; and public Bible discourse on Sunday morning: Benefit from the encouraging discourse “Never give up hope!”
