The faces of hunger in America are both familiar and hidden from view, yet they are all too real and far too many. Congregation Beth Shalom, Jewish Family Services and Episcopal Community Services, are joining together to host “This Is Hunger,” an interactive experience on wheels through MAZON: A Jewish Response to Hunger. The mobile exhibit will be in the parking lot of Congregation Beth Shalom at 14200 Lamar in Overland Park through July 13.

This national touring exhibit is a local interfaith effort to raise awareness about the prevalence of hunger in Greater Kansas City, and bring you face to face with hunger in America. Through digital and hands-on activities, this 45-minute multi-media exhibit, takes participants on a compelling journey that draws them into the real-life circumstances of individuals.

While the exhibit is free, there is a pre-set schedule of tour times and reservations are required. To make reservations, visit thisishunger.org and click on Find Tickets, or visit thisishunger-overlandpark.eventbrite.com.

The exhibit is open to all ages, but is recommended for ages 12 and older as the real-life nature of material may be difficult for younger audiences. Discussion guides for educators and groups are also available.

For information on registration, large group reservations or questions about the schedule, contact Farrah Udell at 913-647-7282 or fudell@bethshalomkc.org.
