The 2016-2017 year for Xi Iota Phi Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi has come to a close. As usual, the final months found us busy.
On April 22, we held our annual Founder's Day celebration at Tuscano's in Buckner, where we not only enjoyed a delicious meal, but we also heard the yearly message from Beta Sigma Phi's International office including the announcement of our theme for the coming year. The highlight of our celebration was the announcement of our Woman of the Year, Karen Blau. Congratulations to her for the well-deserved honor.
An event we all look forward to is our annual “Mother-Daughter Luncheon,” which was held May 6. Guests included mothers, daughters, granddaughters and others who are special to us. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all!
Secret Sisters were revealed at “Ladies Night Out” on May 31 at Sinclair's Restaurant in Blue Springs. It was fun to see each one try and guess who their Secret Sister had been for the year before they were revealed! We then drew names of a new Secret Sister for the coming year. We thanked our officers of this past year and had a card shower for our Woman of the Year.
Our last two programs of the year continued with our theme, “Day Trips or Weekend Getaways from the Midwest.” Bobbie Brubeck and Sharon Simpson presented a weekend trip to St. Louis with ideas for shopping, sightseeing and visiting attractions. Claire Capaldo's program showed us many interesting places to visit in North Central Arkansas.
Throughout the year, Xi Iota Phi members collected personal-sized toiletries and other much needed items, which were then donated to Hope House in May.
We look forward to many more memories in the 2017-2018 year.
