On July 22, Georgia-Pacific’s Dixie Ultra brand will take summer barbecue to new heights to showcase the strength of its new paper plates. Kansas City’s 18th & Vine Historic Jazz District will be the location of an extreme dining event, “Raising the BBQ,” where acrobatic servers carrying two-pound meals of barbecue (with all the fixings) on Dixie Ultra plates will cross tightropes to serve hungry patrons in a restaurant suspended 40 feet above the ground.

The festivities, which are open and free to the public, kick off at 11 a.m., with the main event to follow. In addition to watching the spectacle above and winning the chance to dine at the floating restaurant, the public will enjoy activities and entertainment, plus free Kansas City barbecue from Q39.

Dixie has also partnered with Adam Richman, noted TV personality, food enthusiast and author of cookbook Straight Up Tasty: Meals, Memories and Mouthfuls From My Travels. As the original host of the Travel Channel’s “Man vs. Food,” Richman will appear at this event as emcee and host of the Facebook Live broadcast, which begins at noon.
