Kansas City Parks & Recreation's new off-leash dog park, West Terrace Off-Leash Dog Park, will open July 30. The Dog Park, located at 750 Pennsylvania Ave., will be open from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

The Dog Park is a 1.5 acre park that provides a great place for you and your dog(s) to play, exercise and socialize. The members-only park includes benches, views of the west bottoms and Missouri River, park stairs, a shade pavilion with picnic tables, controlled entry, disposal bags/receptacles and two drinking fountains.

Benefits of membership:

• Exclusive access.

• One key fob per household to enter.

• Assurance that other dogs in the park are current on their rabies vaccination shots.

• Friendly reminders when your registered dogs’ rabies vaccination shots are due.

• Email updates about scheduled maintenance and when it's necessary to close the dog park for improvements and routine maintenance.

Membership fees are good for one year and the cost is $5 per household, which includes one key fob. There is also a $10 fee for an additional key fob, and to replace or re-issue a key fob.

You do not have to be a resident of Kansas City to join and membership includes a maximum of four dogs per household. Dog Park members (human) must be 16 years or older.
