The Grain Valley Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of October. The library is located at 101 S.W. Eagles Pkwy. All activities are free, but registration is required, call 816-228-4020.

• Storytime for Preschoolers, 10 a.m. Wednesdays. Visit the Library for an exciting and unique storytime journey. We'll explore the first steps toward reading readiness for you and your preschooler. Designed for preschoolers between 3 and 5 years old and their caregivers.

• Book Group, for adults, 7 p.m. Oct. 2. Come meet like-minded people, enjoy lively discussion, learn which books inspire others, and talk about your favorite books.

• Medicare Part D Enrollment Event, 10 a.m. Oct. 19. Sign up for a one-on-one appointment, and have a trained CLAIM counselor help you answer questions about your Part D or Advantage plan. CLAIM is Missouri’s State Health Assistance Insurance Program, offering free, confidential, and unbiased Medicare counseling and education to Missouri’s Medicare beneficiaries. • Biggety Bat: Chow Down, for ages 5 and older, 10 a.m. Oct. 21. Meet Biggety Bat as he leaves his roost in the mangrove tree to find something good to eat. Join author Ann Ingalls as she reads the second book in the Biggety Bat series and leads games of mangrove animal matchup and mosquito chase.
