Community breakfast at First Christian

The First Christian Church is holding a community breakfast from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Saturday, in the Fellowship Hall, 125 S. Pleasant St., Independence.

The cost is $3.50 for either a half order of biscuits and gravy or all-you-can-eat pancakes with sausage, and $5 for a full order of biscuits and gravy. All meals include coffee and orange juice.

Welcome back to St. Luke's UCC

St. Luke's United Church of Christ is celebrating a Welcome Back Sunday at 10:45 a.m. this Sunday, 727 N. Main St., Independence.

If you're a current or past member, someone who was baptized, confirmed, married, have fond memories of St. Luke’s, or would like to know more about St. Luke's, you are invited. Everyone will have the opportunity to welcome and reminisce with old friends and meet some new friends too. It will be a time to reflect on St. Luke’s past, see where St. Luke’s is now, and find out what the future might hold.

A picnic lunch is provided after the worship service.


Missionary series concluding at Stone Church

Glenwood Park Methodist holds health clinic

Glenwood Park Methodist Church will hold a free health clinic from 9 a.m. to noon Oct. 7, 10000 E. 23rd St., Independence. The church holds the clinics on the first Saturday of the month.

The screenings, sponsored by the Black Nurse Association and the Samuel U. Rodgers Health Center, include glucose, cholesterol, blood pressure and body mass index testing.
