Troop 310 held their Eagle Scout Court of Honor on Sept. 10, 2017, with Mike Moran as guest speaker. The three young men receiving their Eagle Scout Award were Nicholas Michael Paul, Joshua Matthew Paulsen and Dakota Michael Staggs.

• Nicholas Michael Paul, the son of Kirsten and BJ Stafford, and Sam and Lynne Paul, became a Scout in June 2010. He became a Tenderfoot in April 2011; Second Class in July 2011; First Class in January 2012; Star in June 2012; Life in July 2013; and an Eagle in January 2017.

He received his Order of the Arrow – Ordeal in May 2013, and Brotherhood in April 2014. He has earned 38 merit badges and also received the World Conservation Award.

Nicholas is a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and his tribal name is “Grandson of Sleek Black Crow.” He became a Foxman in 2012; Brave in 2013; Warrior in 2014; Firebuilder in 2015; and TomTom Beater in 2016.

For his Eagle Project, Nick built a sitting bench at the entrance of the Burr Oak Woods Conservation Nature Center's building in Blue Springs. It was constructed out of concrete, rebar, metal and treated wood composite to last for years to come. It was placed in a native, protected plant environment, which attracts local insects and butterflies so people can sit and enjoy them.

• Joshua Matthew Paulsen, the son of Pam and Terry Hessenflow, and Matt and Cristi Paulsen, became a Scout in June 1010. He became a Tenderfoot in August 2010; Second Class in February 2011; First Class in July 2011; Star in February 2012; Life in July 2013; and an Eagle in January 2017.

He received his Order of the Arrow – Ordeal in May 2013, and Brotherhood in April 2014. He has earned 33 merit badges and also received the Arrow of Light and BSA Kayaking Award.

Joshua is a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and his tribal name is “Striking Black Bass.” He became a Foxman in 2012; Brave in 2013; Warrior in 2014; Firebuilder in 2015; TomTom Beater in 2016; and Runner in 2017.

A need was identified by the church for cleaning up the brush that had been accumulating at the church for bonfires. Josh's Eagle Project was the clearing of this area and splitting the wood into the correct size to be placed into the wood shed that was constructed. Cedar posts with concrete footing were constructed and the remaining boards erected the frame. The shed will hold a cord of wood.

• Dakota Michael Staggs, the son of Ray and Damien Miller, became a Scout in June 2010. He became a Tenderfoot in August 2010; Second Class in February 2011; First Class in July 2011; Star in April 2012; Life in June 2013; and an Eagle in May 2017.

He received his Order of the Arrow – Ordeal in May 2013, and Brotherhood in April 2014. He has earned 41 merit badges and also received the Arrow of Light and World Conservation Award.

Dakota is a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say and his tribal name is “Fierce Striking Gray Wolf.” He became a Foxman in 2012; Brave in 2013; Warrior in 2014; Firebuilder in 2015; TomTom Beater in 2015; Runner in 2016; and Keeper of the Sacred Bundle in 2017.

Dakota's Eagle Project was to create a stage for the Youth Group at the First United Methodist Church. The stage has allowed the group to perform/rehearse their skits in class as if they were actually on a stage.
