The Grain Valley Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of November. The library is located at 101 S.W. Eagles Pkwy. All activities are free, but registration is required, call 816-228-4020.

Storytime for Preschoolers: 10 a.m. Nov. 1, 8, 15 and 29. Visit the Library for an exciting and unique storytime journey. We'll explore the first steps toward reading readiness for you and your preschooler. Designed for preschoolers between 3 and 5 years old and their caregivers.

Beginning Crochet: 10:30 a.m. Nov. 3 and 10. In this two-week program, you’ll learn the basic crochet stitches and how to read patterns. This program is for beginners or those who just need a refresher. Please bring a size H or I crochet hook and a skein of 100 percent cotton yarn (variegated color or light color) to class.

Butterfly and Beetle Watercolor Pencil Class: For ages 5 and older, 10 a.m. Nov. 4. Use watercolor pencils, wiggly eyes, and 3-D raised paint to create butterflies and beetles with personalities all their own.

Book Group: For adults, 7 p.m. Nov. 6. Come meet like-minded people, enjoy lively discussion, learn which books inspire others, and talk about your favorite books.

Marty’s Party: For all ages, 2 p.m. Nov. 7. It’s Marty’s birthday and he wants to celebrate with you! Come to the party, meet Marty, and enjoy stories, songs, refreshments, and fun!

Beaded Penguin: For adults, 2 p.m. Nov. 11 and 18. Join Tina Gatewood and learn to make these cute beaded penguins. Great for holiday decorating! This is a two-part class; each class lasts 90 minutes. There is a one-time hands-on materials fee of $14.

Beginning Excel: For adults, 7 p.m. Nov. 16. Learn the basics about Microsoft Excel and how to format a simple spreadsheet.
