The South Independence Branch of Mid-Continent Public Library is offering the following activities for the month of December. The library is located at 13700 E. 35th St. All activities are free, but registration is required, call 816-461-2050.

Tech Talk: For adults, 7 p.m. Dec. 6 or 2 p.m. Dec. 18. Whether you are a first-time computer user or have had lots of experience, there are always questions waiting to be asked about technology. Bring your questions to the branch, or just come to listen and learn from other participants. You can bring your own laptop computer or tablet.

“The Hour of Code:” For ages 8 and older, 2 p.m. Dec. 9. Join Mad Science as they participate in “The Hour of Code,” a global movement designed to teach students the basics of coding and introduce them to the growing field of computer science. Winter Holiday Stories: For ages 3 and older, 2 p.m. Dec. 12. Enjoy classic holiday stories from Christmas to Kwanzaa told by storyteller Milton Gray.

Storytime with Santa and Mrs. Claus: For all ages, 10 a.m. Dec. 20. Santa and Mrs. Claus are making a special trip from the North Pole to read a holiday story at the Library. After the story, sit on Santa’s lap to tell him what you want for Christmas. Don’t forget your cameras.

An Old-Fashioned Christmas with Mrs. Claus: For all ages, 6:30 p.m. Dec. 20. Sit down with Mrs. Claus, and catch the holiday spirit as she shares traditional stories and songs from the last 200 years.

Christmas with the Cool Cats: For all ages, 7 p.m. Dec. 21. Terry Bell and his band, the Cool Cats, squeeze the most out of all those holiday favorites in this fun-loving holiday accordion concert.
