Everyone is invited to the annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in Blue Springs on Dec. 5. This free, family holiday event will begin at 5:30 p.m. outside City Hall, 903 W. Main St.

Pete Grigsby with KMBC Channel 9 and teacher for the Blue Springs School District, will join Mayor Ross as Master of Ceremonies. The live countdown to the tree lighting will take place between 6:15 and 6:20 p.m. Mayor Ross will be joined by Haley and Graham Johnson as they flip the switch and light the official Blue Springs Christmas Tree.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive in an Enchanted Sleigh immediately following the tree lighting and several mascots will be on hand to help Mayor Ross welcome visitors. Those scheduled to perform during the program are: Cordill-Mason Cougar Choir, Franklin Smith Treble Makers Choir and the Sunny Pointe Puma Pride Choir.

Enjoy complementary hot dogs and chips, cookies and hot chocolate and popcorn. Craft activities for children will be located inside City Hall.
