Academic All-Stars: Daniel Jeffress

SCHOOL: Truman High School
HONORS: Top 1 percent; named to the Principal’s Honor Roll throughout high school; AP Scholar; McCoy Award recipient; member of National French Honor Society; selected as Student of the Month by the Rotary Club of Independence.
ACTIVITIES: Member of the soccer and tennis teams; member of the Marching Band, Jazz Band, Pep Band and Symphonic Band; pit member for “Annie”; works part-time job at Hardee’s on Noland Road.

What advice do you have for next year’s freshmen?
Whether you believe it or not, high school is important. Almost every skill we will need as an adult we develop in high school. Don’t waste this opportunity.

Who was your favorite teacher and why?
I didn’t have one, but I really enjoyed all the teachers I had for multiple years, including Mr. (Todd) Reinhardt, Madame (Brandi) Pruente, Mr. (Brad) Drinkwater and Mrs. (Kelli) Penner.

When you were not in school or studying, what did you enjoy doing?
I really enjoyed Truman’s athletic programs.

What college do you plan to attend and why?
I plan to attend the Missouri University of Science and Technology because I like the atmosphere, and it’s nationally recognized as a top engineering school.

What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
Hopefully, I will have a good job as an engineer.
