Kansas City police took a man suspected in a bank robbery into custody after a standoff at a Sugar Creek residence Thursday evening.
The standoff occurred at the corner of Sugar Creek Boulevard and the 12000 block of Smart Street in Sugar Creek.
Examiner news partner KMBC television reported that police surrounded the home and tried to talk the man out, and the man surrendered just before 7 p.m.
Police said they believe the man robbed the Metcalf Bank in the 4600 block of Blue Ridge Boulevard at approximately 4 p.m. Witnesses at the scene gave police a license plate number of the suspect’s vehicle, and police tracked that to the residence on Smart Street.
Police have not released the suspect’s name but said the investigation had been turned over to the FBI.
