Demolition experts begin work Wednesday on tearing down the building on the southeast corner of Noland Road and 23rd Street in Independence to make way for new construction at the site.
The building, which once housed a Safeway grocery store, an Osco drug store and most recently a Big Lots discount store is being torn down to build a new, bigger QuikTrip store than the one next door on Noland.
