Today’s weather looks like it could be a mess – and more heavy snow could be on the way Saturday and Sunday.
The National Weather Service, after almost a half inch of snow Thursday, says there’s a chance of snow and freezing drizzle until around 10 a.m. today, then rain and snow until 1 p.m. No more than one-tenth of an inch of snow is expected to accumulate. High near 40. The chance of precipitation is 40 percent. It’s cloudy tonight with a low around 31.
Saturday brings the potential of heavy snow, though the Weather Service says the track of the storm and the temperatures ahead of arrival of snowfall remain uncertain. For now, Kansas City sits in middle of east-west swath that could get 4 to 7 inches of snow.
The forecast is for rain after 1 p.m., a high of 39 and a brisk wind out of the east northeast at 9 to 15 mph, gusting to 21 mph. The chance of precipitation is 70 percent, and there could be one-tenth to one-quarter of an inch. It turns to rain and snow in the evening and then all snow after 1 a.m. Sunday, with an 80 percent chance of precipitation and a low of 29. The snow continues to about 1 p.m.
