The Grain Valley Community Center includes a large multi-purpose room, full-service kitchen, fitness area and a meeting room. An admission fee is required, but the center offers walk-in, monthly, six-month and yearly passes. Grain Valley residents receive a 15-percent discount on six-month and yearly use fees.
The fitness area has weight-training equipment, cardiovascular machines and free weights.
The community center can be rented out for special events. The meeting room will hold up to 35 people and multi-purpose room can handle up to 250 people seated and 300 people total.
A basketball or volleyball space can be rented out by groups.

Monkey Mountain Sports Complex
With four lighted baseball fields, and a multi-purpose field for soccer and football, Grain Valley residents can truly go bananas with their sports options at Monkey Mountain. Other amenities include a concessions and restroom building, shelters and two playgrounds. The park is adjacent to hiking and equestrian trails.
Armstrong Park
Located just southeast of City Hall at 711 Main St., this 10-acre park features four shelters with barbecue grills and picnic tables, a gazebo, a skate park, two lighted baseball fields, an asphalt walking trail and a full-service pavilion.
Shelter and pavilion reservations and ball field rentals may be obtained by calling 816-847-6230.

Tennis courts
There are four lighted tennis courts located in front of Grain Valley High School, on Eagles Way.
These were built in 2000 as a cooperative venture between the city of Grain Valley and the Grain Valley School District. The tennis courts are open to the public anytime except for practices and matches during the high school tennis season in the fall.

This facility includes two lighted football fields, a shelter, concessions and restrooms.

Cross Creek Nature Park
This 36-acre tract is a work-in-progress. There are open green areas and a one-mile walking trail along the Blue Branch Creek.

The city also has “pocket” parks at Willow and Broadway Streets, R.D. Mize and Barr Roads, and Brome and Clover Streets. These areas have play equipment, picnic tables and barbecue grills.
