The site includes an interactive map, information about different species of animals and plants found within the state and education opportunities.
www.treehugger.com – The Web site lauds itself as the “tree huggers” guide to going green. Here, browsers can pick guides on just about every aspect of their lives – How to Green Your Funeral, How to Green Your Wedding, How to Green Your Gifts. This site also features news on “green” celebrities and pop culture news and fashion. It includes a forum and a job board.
www.worldwatch.org – This Web site is run by the Worldwatch Institute, a research organization that focuses on global issues. The organization’s mission is to “empower” decision makers to create an environmentally sustainable society. The Web site feature polls, data and tips. It also includes a 10-step list on ways the average person can go green and save money.
www. sierraclub.org – With more than 1.3 million members, the Sierra Club credits itself as the largest and most influential grassroots environmental organization. The Web site offers links to stories about environmental issues and different ways to get involved. The club has chapters in the Kansas City area.
www.epa.gov/newsroom/gogreen – The Environmental Protection Agency maintains a monthly newsletter through this URL. The newsletter is geared toward the 300 million citizens embracing the green movement. The newsleter, which features “what you can do” information, can be viewed from the Web site or sent directly to your e-mail.
www.google.com – So google may be a one-stop resource for just nearly all online research, but a quick Google search of “going green” pulls about about 10 pages of links and articles about the green movement and way to bring a little bit of green into your life.
