Friends and family of Bailey Bennett are organizing a fundraiser to help the Oak Grove kindergartner’s battle with cancer.
Bailey, 6, was first diagnosed with neuroblastoma in 2007. She was treated with chemotherapy, radiation, surgery and a bone marrow transplant, which forced the rare cancer into remission.
However, it was discovered in February that the cancer has returned. After two rounds of chemotherapy, scans have shown a reduction in the tumor, but the kindergartner must still face more rounds of treatment.
Friends of Bailey have organized Skating for Bailey from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Watson’s Rolladium SK8 Center, 513 S.W. Keystone Drive in Blue Springs. Donations will be accepted for admission to skate. There will also be snacks and face painting available for purchase.
In addition, Salon Amore, 1102 S., Broadway in Oak Grove, is hosting a Color-A-Thon event beginning at 11 a.m. May 21. Participants can selected a stripe of color to add to their hair for $8. All proceeds from both events will go to Bailey’s family to help with expenses.
