The Mid-America Regional Council Air Quality Program has issued an orange Ozone Alert for Wednesday. This means an unhealthy level of ozone pollution is expected in the area.
Since everyday activities such as driving, can increase emissions MARC suggests that people take steps to reduce the impact, such as carpoolling, taking the bus, walking or postponing errands that require driving. Even waiting until after 7 p.m. to fill up your car's gas tank will help. And don't overfill your tank.
On Ozone Alert days rides on the KCATA metro buses cost just 75 cents. Call 816-221-0660 for transit information or check www.google.com/transit or www.kcata.org for routes and schedules.
An orange alert means the air is unhealthy for sensitive groups. Active children and adults and people with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exertion. It the third of four level of air quality listed in the Skycast.
