More H1N1 flu vaccine is becoming available, and on Thursday county health departments in the Kansas City area said that means a wider range of people can get innoculated.
Those given priority for vaccinations are:

  • Pregnant women.
  • Anyone age 6 months to 24 years.
  • Those 25 to 64 with significant chronic health conditions.
  • Caregivers of children under 6 months old and those with household contact with those under 6 months.
  • Health-care workers.

Those 65 and older are not yet eligible for the H1N1, or swine flu, vaccine. Officials say those people are less likely to get infected than those in the priority groups.
Officials have said for some time that those who want vaccinations should be able to get them by the end of the year. They also stress the importance of everyone getting a regular seasonal flu shot, which does not protect against H1N1.
