The Independence Mavericks made a roster move Thursday, waiving forward Sam Bowles and signing defenseman Nathan Schwartzbauer.
Schwartzbauer, 27, is beginning his third professional season. He played the 2008-09 season with the Dayton Bombers of the East Coast Hockey League where he tallied 12 points and 50 penalty minutes.
Schwartzbauer played his rookie season with the Youngstown SteelHounds of the Central Hockey League and has a total of 23 points (four goals and 19 assists) in 136 pro games.
Bowles played in six games and scored one goal with the Mavericks before being waived. He has been signed by the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Columbus Cottonmouths on a three-game tryout.
