Still looking for their first win in franchise history, the Missouri Mavericks were upended 6-2 Friday by the Colorado Eagles in front of 5,289 fans at the Budweiser Events Center.
Nick Sirota and Ted Vandermeer scored goals for the Mavericks, who fell to 0-3-0 on the season.
Mavericks goalie Doug Groenestege stopped 23 of 29 shots in his second loss of the season.
“It was the furthest thing from what the score indicated,” Mavericks head coach Scott Hillman said. “We controlled the puck for a majority of the game, had a lot of quality scoring chances but were unable to find the back of the net.”
The Mavericks, though, failed to convert on seven power-play opportunities in the loss.
The Mavericks are back in action tonight at 7:05 p.m. against the Amarillo Gorillos in Amarillo, Texas.
The game against Amarillo will be broadcast live on KCWJ (1030 AM) and on CHL-TV.
