Man charged in fatal motorcycle crash

Blue Springs police filed charges Monday against a man who allegedly caused an accident April 2 that killed a motorcyclist leading a funeral procession.

Jon E. Mihm, 20, of Blue Springs, was charged with involuntary manslaughter in the crash that killed Steven W. Keith. The accident occurred when Keith, who was traveling south on Northwest Woods Chapel Road, attempted to catch up to the front of the procession and collided with Mihm, who was weaving in and out of traffic to get around the procession.

The impact of the collision forced Keith and his motorcycle off the road and into a brick pillar.

Mihm posted $25,000 bond and was released pending his upcoming trial, according to Sgt. Steve Decker of the Blue Springs Police Department.
