The National Frontier Trails Museum welcomes visitors Saturday with a full day of activities.
Beginning at 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. visitors will be able to enjoy free wagon rides as part of their regular museum experience.
At 10 a.m. crafter Sharron Gregg will conduct a fun fabric workshop making crazy quilt tote bags. Both sides of the tote will be in the crazy quilt pattern with attached handles and lined. Fabric kits with thread and beads will be provided. Advance reservations are required and can be made by calling the museum.
“Alexander Cartwright: The Life Behind the Baseball Legend,” presented by noted baseball historian Monica Nucciarone, will offer visitors an in-depth look at one of the founders of America’s favorite pastime – baseball – at 2 p.m. Cartwright’s controversial life and claims will be explored, as well as the time he spent in Independence leading to his journey to the California gold fields.
After the presentation, Nucciarone will sign copies of her newly published book “Alexander Cartwright: The Life Behind the Baseball Legend.” The lecture is free and open to the public. Regular museum admission applies for viewing the gallery exhibits.
