IBS Industries is a non-profit organization that provides work opportunities to disabled adults in Independence. It is largely funded through its contract work private businesses and government agencies.

• Developing Potential, Inc.

Developing Potential, Inc. is a non-profit day habilitation program to improve the lifestyles of disabled people in Independence. Some of the programs the group offers try to improve communication skills, fitness, personal hygiene, cooking and social skills. DPI also gives its participants a chance to practice their newly acquired skills through a community integration program. These include volunteering or social activities.

The group receives federal and county funding.
