The Examiner
Independence, MO —
Independence gets its water from a deep aquifer below the Missouri River north of the city. The city also supplies other Eastern Jackson County communities with water.
Independence water is not treated with fluoride.
The municipal water, filtered by nature, has been judged to be among the best in the nation. Independence put its municipal water supply up against that of other suppliers at the 2008 Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting competition in Berkeley Springs, W. Va., and came home with a fourth-place award.
