Midwest Foster Care and Adoption Association is an organization that works to help families with adopted or foster children.
All of the services at MFCAA are free of charge to its members, and membership is free. Some of the services included with membership include a food pantry on Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that provides bread and other basic items. Members can set up appointments to pick up canned goods, cereals, hygiene items, frozen goods and other food items once a month. The organization also offers a clothing closet, which is also open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Fridays.
Anyone may donate clothing or household items for this service. MFCAA also has a school supplies drive every school year for the child’s specific grade and school district needs.
MFCAA offers a service called Lawyers for Kids. Lawyers for Kids is a group of legal professionals that have teamed up to help children participate in things such as Little League, piano lessons of art classes.
The Christmas Program that MFCAA offers includes supplementary Christmas gifts for children that sign up. Families may begin signing up in August.
An important service that MFCAA offers to its members is a program designed to assist foster and adoptive parents with childcare needs. This service is free of charge to the parents. To receive this service contact Suzen at 816-350-0215.
MFCAA has many events and fundraisers at various times throughout the year. One of their most popular fundraisers has been the Ribs for Kids fundraiser where groups grill ribs and people purchase them. Recently this fundraiser raised more than $40,000.
