Enchanted Forest starts this weekend
The Enchanted Forest, a non-scary Halloween event for families, with storybook and nursery rhyme characters, wagon hayride and lighted display, will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and Oct.  23, 24 at George Owens Nature Park, 1601 S. Speck Road, Independence.
The cost is $3 per person. For more information, call 816-325-7370.


Take a Ghost Tour Friday on Square
Friday Night Ghost Tours will take place at 7, 8, 9 and 10 p.m. Oct. 16, 23 and 30. Hear ghost stories and yarns of haunted places on the Independence Square during a 45-minute covered wagon ride.
The cost is $18, $12 for children 7 to 11. For reservations, call 816-461-0065.


Candlelight tours at Wornall Museum
The John Wornall House Museum will be holding one hour candlelight ghost tours Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Oct. 23 and 24, 6115 Wornall Road, Kansas City. Tours available from 7 to 10 p.m.
Tours will be followed by old time music, ghost stories, and maybe even a visit with real ghost busters! The John Wornall House is working with Premier Paranormal Research Group to present this event.
The cost is $15 per person. For reservations, call 816-444-1858.


‘Haunted Attic’ show at Puppetry Institute
“The Haunted Attic,” presented by puppeteers Joann McMillan and Nancy Clark, will be held at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday, and at 2 and 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Puppetry Arts Institute, 11025 E. Winner Road, Independence.
Meet Robert Smith’s ghostly and creepy marionettes that live in the Haunted Attic!

Spirits from the Past at Missouri Town
Spirits from the Past will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 23 and 24 at Missouri Town 1855, 8010 E. Park Road in Lee’s Summit, located on the eastern side of Lake Jacomo in Fleming Park.
In this eerie 1850s village, only luminaries light the way. Walk through the moonlit town, if you dare, and hear spine-tingling tales more than a century old. Wood fires are burning and witches cauldrons are churning. Children’s games, storytelling around bonfires, trick-or-treating and a haunting hayride are just a part of the spooktastic time awaiting you!

Shrine Club sponsors ‘Spooky House’
The Jackson County Shrine Club is sponsoring their first annual “Spooky House” from 5 to 10 p.m. Oct. 23, 4 to 10 p.m. Oct. 24 and from 4 to 9 p.m. Oct. 25 at 120 1/2 S. Pleasant St., Independence.
Join the Shriners in a safe, fun and family oriented environment.

Blue Springs Boo Fest downtown Oct. 24
“Boo”-Springs Harvest Fest, sponsored by Blue Springs Parks and Recreation, Blue Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Main Center Merchants, will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 24 in downtown Blue Springs, on Main Street between 10th and 12th streets.
Downtown merchants will open their businesses and storefronts for children to trick-or-treat in a fun and safe environment. In addition, outdoor booths will be setup for holiday-oriented activities, including holiday crafts, games, cookie decorating, face painting, an inflatable and a haunted maze.

Halloween party at Bingham-Waggoner
“An Evening at the Rue Morgue,” a Halloween party for adults, with a magic, mime, dinner, entertainment, games and prizes, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Bingham-Waggoner Estate, 313 W. Pacific Ave., Independence.
The year is 1881 in Paris, France, the city is preparing to celebrate All Hallows Eve in grand style at the notorious Rue Morgue, which has earned a rather sinister reputation over the years, and then was that unfortunate series of murders some years back. Costumes encouraged.

Mystic Pumpkin Fest at Englewood Station
Englewood Station Shopping District will be holding the “Mystic Pumpkin Festival” from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. Oct. 24 at Englewood Station, Winner Road and Sterling Avenue, Independence.
Activities include games, costume contests, pumpkin painting, food, live performances on stage, cake walk, “haunted” fire truck rides and Halloween skits.
