Independence, MO —

Representatives of the Andrew Drumm Farm Institute, 3210 Lee’s Summit Road, is asking the public’s help in the recovery of a stolen Crosley antique truck that disappeared from the property during the night Monday.

Mauren Branstetter, Drumm Farm gardening coordinator, said the antique fire engine red truck with fire engine wheels and antique Kansas license plates is a keepsake of the organization.

“We are all saddened,” Branstetter said, “very saddened. Why would anyone take from the Drumm Institute?”

Branstetter said the truck has become a treasured part of the organization in the two years it has been at Drumm Farm.

“It’s near and dear to the hearts of the people that come to Drumm and come to the garden,” she said. “It can’t be replaced monetarily. It’s priceless.”

The truck serves as a part of the garden operation, Branstetter said.

“The kids like to sit on it, honk the horn and get their pictures taken in it,” she said. “I’m hoping someone will see it and call say that they saw it. It sticks out like a sore thumb. It’s not like someone would not notice it.”

A reward is offered for information leading to the return of the truck. Anyone with information is urged to call the Independence Police Department at 816-325-7300.
