To the editor:

My point with this letter is not to belabor the issue surrounding abortion but to say that I am stunned by the passivity of those mourning the loss of Dr. Tiller (i.e. the letter from Margaret Tretbar, June 5, “Angry rhetoric helped lead the way to murder”) with not even a flinch or mention of the thousands of unborn who died before him. I am reminded of all those tiny, innocent lives taken who would potentially have become beautiful children. I also know that they died in a cold and painful manner. I cannot comprehend what motivated Dr. Tiller, but I doubt that it was solely women’s rights.

I will continue to stand up for the unborn, but I do it peacefully, as do thousands of others who stand with me. It is not my belief nor the belief of most pro-life advocates that Dr. Tiller should have been killed. That also is the taking of a life. It is, however, my steadfast belief that snuffing out the lives of the innocent and helpless unborn is against one of God’s Top Ten, “Thou shalt not kill.” I am sure that now Dr. Tiller knows the truth, which is the very thing that divides us.
