To the editor:

Thanks for Lynn Youngblood’s interesting columns on hemp (June 10, “An amazing crop is still overlooked” and June 17, “Long legacy of lied still keeps good products off the market”). Also, I mostly wanted to just thank her for the “Green” column in general. It’s nice to have someone covering “green” stuff in the paper.

I am constantly interested in all the great stuff that is out there – and it is sad that the public doesn’t have more information on things like hemp, but also the real story behind things like the electric car, and solving the gas price issue with alternative fuels that don’t include corn ethanol and drilling for more oil. I wish people knew the truth behind corn ethanol, and how much better the cane ethanol is – but more importantly, that GM made an electric car years ago and then scrapped it. The technology is out there, but the public is being kept in the dark.

My next home will feature an alternative “green” style of insulation, a tankless water heater, and any other energy efficient things I can afford.
