Retired principal backs Thompson

When I look at the choices for 53rd District state representative, I see only one possibility, Gary Thompson, Democratic candidate. Mr. Thompson exemplifies what many people want in their government leaders. He has a passion for the community he has resided in for 29 years. Active in charities, church, and community service, he gives 100 percent to the 53rd District.

Gary’s financial background as senior vice president of Bank Operations will serve as an asset in Jefferson City, as will his proven commitment to the people from the smallest child to the senior citizen. He is resolved to restore state funding for schools and Medicaid and will take a strong, active stand on issues for which he is passionate. He understands that school vouchers undermine the very underpinnings of equitable schools for all.

My personal endorsement of Mr. Thompson comes from many years of personal and professional knowledge. As a teacher and principal for 31 years in the Fort Osage R-I School District, I watched him help guide the Board of Education to make the best choices for the students and patrons of the district. He made sound research-based decisions and always exemplified a professional demeanor. His entire family reflects high character. His wife volunteered at the schools, and his sons excelled in school and community events. Gary is a man of character and high integrity and will work tirelessly to improve the 53rd District.
