Independence, MO —

To the editor:

I am writing to thank and inform a few people that they are indirectly responsible for making Christmas a little merrier for a few families.

We, the Helping Hands Arts and Crafts Club, make nice gifts from recycled things. Because of their generosity of giving up gallon cans, we are making a considerable amount of money. Our motto is to help others with our sale of items we make. I want to thank the kitchen help at the Rehabilitation Center of Independence, at 1800 S. Swope Drive; Victoria Hopkins (a resident there); and Donald Van Hoye, who worked at Papa John’s Pizza on U.S. 24.

For me, it is a dream come true, for I’ve always wished I could do this at Christmas. So thanks, you wonderful people, for your help.
