To the editor:
The Examiner is to be commended for its refusal to print the wedding notice of a same-sex marriage. Many in today’s world don’t seem to realize this type of behavior is repulsive to God. There are more than 20 references in my concordance warning us against it.
It’s not my desire to govern the actions of anyone other than mine. We are given agency to either abide by and follow the word of God or ignore it. The consequences of our adherence of His word teach more than just reading it. Statistics tell us more than 5 million children in Africa are orphans because one or both parents have died of AIDS. In this country, many people have passed on transmittable diseases because of loose morals. Anyone who knowingly, willingly passes on communicable bacteria to another person does not understand why God commands us not to commit adultery or fornication. The Ten Commandments in Exodus 20 are not just 10 suggestions.
The most important aspect of this situation is the disregard for obedience of Gods’ word.
Examiner columnist James Everett and Christian churches should respect, honor and remember that Jesus Christ died on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Each sin wantonly committed pounds those nails over again. Read for yourself in I Corinthians 6:9-10, 18: “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived, neither fornicators, nor idolators, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind. Nor thieves, not covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. ... Flee fornication. Every sin that a man committeth is against the body of Christ, and he who committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.”
These are God’s words. We will face Him when this life is over. He created us, loves us, wants what is best for each of us. Why don’t we?
