To the editor:
To those people who had such hopes for the Obama presidency, the disappointment and sorrow are the greatest. Rather than rally our nation during difficult financial times and struggling unemployment, his actions and those of his stalwart administration have deepened the ghastly chasms of both.
We cannot spend our way out of debt. Depleting the savings of taxpayers and overtaxing the corporations that provide jobs for Americans will continue to lead this great nation into greater desperation. Even VP Joe Biden has now stated that the $787 billion stimulus package was in error.
The solution? Cut corporate taxes by 50 percent and lower the capital gains tax by the same and this country will rebound more quickly than a baseball team with a bases-loaded home run. We should all realize that businesses provide jobs; but no business is about to spend for growth in earnings that will be taken away by the government. And they can’t create new jobs, or keep their current employees, when the promise of higher taxes and exhorbant utility rates are deemed necessary by the foolish group of political big spenders that comprise our Congress.
We must write, call, and badger our congressional representatives to let them know we’ll take away their most prised possession, their congressional office, if they continue on their current path.
