Spirit of Independence Band concert Sunday

The community band tradition continues when the Spirit of Independence Concert Band presents its fall concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in the William Chrisman High School Auditorium, U.S. 24 and Noland Road, Independence.

Now in its 13th season, the 55-member group, conducted by area musician and educator Danny Lane, will perform a variety of numbers ranging from light classics to popular tunes. Selections include two Sousa marches, the overture to Mozart’s “Marriage of Figaro,” and a medley from “South Pacific,” along with other tunes. The trombone section will be featured in a special number.

There is no admission fee.
