The Independence Young Matrons are busy preparing for their 52nd Annual Children's Theatre Production, “The Magic Cookie Jar” adapted from scripts written by Helen Louise Miller and Elsie Rowland and directed by Chris Best.

“The Magic Cookie Jar” is a romp of laughter and intrigue, deception and greed... and a magic lady who casts spells on the golden goose and a simple cookie jar.  The locals in the community put their best creative efforts in support of the young princess and a prince just coming of age.

Independence preschool and elementary school children will fill William Chrisman High School Auditorium for the seven free performances which began Friday and run through  Thursday. The general public is invited to a special free showing at 7 p.m., Thursday at William Chrisman High School.

The play chairman is Kristin Miller, assisted by co-chairman, Sheila Engelbrecht.

The entire production, including set designs and construction, scenes and lighting, costuming ushering, publicity and acting, is done by members of the Independence Young Matrons. Each year an audience of approximately 5,000 enjoy a fun-filled entertaining theater experience... come join the fun!
