Making memories
“Memories in the Making,” featuring works from individuals with Alzheimer’s disease, is on display at Lee’s Summit Medical Center. This exhibit will run through Nov. 20
For those with Alzheimer’s disease, precious memories can be fleeting. This poignant art display demonstrates how some sufferers of the disease are capturing and documenting their memories and impressions, even as their faculties fade.
“Memories in the Making” is a weekly watercolor artwork program sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter and hosted in area assisted living facilities, nursing facilities, adult day programs, and community facilities throughout the bi-state area. The program is designed to allow self-expression, encourage creativity, provide a way to communicate and build self-esteem for those with dementia.
