Wow. I can hardly believe that the new school year is just a week or two away. I am so sad that my boys’ summer is almost over. I love the change of pace for them. While summertime is great time for our family, it does leave less time for oneself.
I must say that I am ready to get back to our regular schedule. You know the one where I have a bit more time to do the things I need to do for myself. Or, perhaps to do more of the things that I want to do for myself. Does this sound familiar, mommas? Go ahead and get the kiddos back in school and then breathe in a sigh of relief, for now there maybe some you time.
In this week’s column I want to suggest a Top 10 list of quick services you can schedule for yourself at your favorite salon or day spa during school hours. Some can even be provided during your lunch break, if you work away from home, like many of us do.
10. French manicure. Check out the Shellac service. It’s a soak off mani that lasts for two weeks! (45 min.)
9. Rock Star Pedicure. For some fun, sparkly toenails. (45-60 min.)
8. Eyebrow shaping and a brow and eyelash tint. (30 min.) It can be eye opening, literally.
7. Eyelash application. What flirty fluttery fun. (30 min.)
6. Shampoo and blow-dry. Your hair always looks better when a pro does it. (30 min.)
5. Super scalp and hair treatment. These are called different things at different salons. My favorite is our Level Three Surface Treatment. Your scalp is treated as well as your hair to remove buildup, and treat moisture and strength deficiencies. (10-45 min.)
4. Partial highlights. Just enough to let a bit of sun shine in! (60 min.)
3. Glossing treatment. Shine on! (45 min.)
2. Day into night makeup application. Let your favorite makeup artist show you how to get your work look ready for happy hour. (30-40 min.)
And No. 1. This is easy. It’s my favorite service. A 90-minute massage. One hour to relax my muscles and the last half hour to work out all the knots! No need to say anything more!
