There are many wonderful people in this world who adopt handicapped or special needs children. These people are rare gems in our society and are to be commended for their courage and empathy.
Animals can have special needs too. Many people have animals that use wheelchairs or have a health problem that requires special attention.
ABF has a pretty black cat named Mindy, who is one of those special kids. Mindy has feline immunodeficiency virus, which is also known as feline AIDS. FIV cannot be spread to humans or dogs. It is specifically a feline virus, which is only contagious to other cats.
Mindy is 2 years old and will have many more years to live. Unfortunately, she is homeless, and many of our cat lovers have a cat or several cats and cannot take Mindy. Mindy has a sweet, loving personality and just needs someone to love her for her remaining years to come. She deserves to live a good life in a home just like every other cat.
If you would like to help this special girl by giving her a loving home, please call Dianne Sanderson at 816-254-8664 or 816-254-4609.
Also, Animals Best Friends wish list includes dog chow, dog biscuits, rawhides, cow hooves, canned dog and cat food, laundry soap, bleach, Fantastic cleaning spray, paper towels and newspapers. There is a paper recycling bin in the parking lot at ABF Headquarters, 2302 S. Crysler Ave., Independence. Please, no cardboard or telephone books. We appreciate your support.
The following animals are available for adoption at the Independence Animal Shelter. Visit the shelter at 875 Vista Drive or call 816-325-7207 for more information. If you have an animal control problem, call 816-325-7205.
